Defendant is charged, pursuant to Vehicle and Traffic Law § 601, with leaving the scene of an injury to a 60-pound Labrador Retriever that resulted in the death of that animal. The accident happened about 2:00 A.M. while the dog and his owner were playing with a frisbee. Defendant, who was driving a cab, was responding to a call when he struck the dog and dragged the yelping animal some 250 to 300 yards. He neither...
