On March 28, 1997, Appellant Earl O'Neal Manns, then age eighteen, shot and killed Bashawn Wilson during an argument over the outcome of a computer "Play Station" basketball game. Following a one-day trial in the Jefferson Circuit Court on August 25, 1998, Appellant was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree and sentenced to confinement in the penitentiary for seventeen years.
