William and Gabriella Caripides met an untimely death aboard Swissair flight 111 when it crashed near Nova Scotia, Canada, on September 2, 1998. At the time of the tragic event, Mr. and Mrs. Caripides were each covered by two group accidental death insurance policies: one for $100,000 and one for $1,000,000.
