¶ 1 The trial court awarded Jayme D. Thomas and her former domestic partner, Lisa June Nielson, joint custody of Thomas's daughter. We conclude that the court had jurisdiction to decide the custody issue but abused its discretion in awarding joint custody because the applicable statute, Arizona Revised Statutes ("A.R.S.") section 25-415 (2000), requires findings that make it impossible for the court to properly award custody to...
