This case presents our third occasion in as many years to determine the validity under the Fourth Amendment of a suspicionless police stop of a motor vehicle (see People v Abad, 98 N.Y.2d 12 [2002]; Matter of Muhammad F., 94 N.Y.2d 136 [1999], cert denied 531 U.S. 1044 [2000]).
