¶ 1. On October 10, 1989, John Richard Pruitt was indicted in the Harrison County Circuit Court for the murder of Joan Easterling. At the conclusion of trial, a jury convicted Pruitt, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole. Following sentencing, Pruitt's attorneys filed both a motion for a new trial and a motion to withdraw, citing Pruitt's intention to appeal...
