Defendant, Earl Dabney, was arrested for and charged with possessing a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance in violation of La.R.S. 14:95(E). He also was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in violation of La.R.S. 14:95.1. A jury found Defendant guilty of both charges. Defendant was sentenced to serve ten years at hard labor for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and seven years at hard labor...
