Following a bench trial, Ulises Arroyo was convicted of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1)(West 1996) in the shooting death of Rudy Dellatorre just after midnight on June 14, 1997, during the street "celebration" which occurred after the Chicago Bulls won the NBA championship.
