STATEMENT OF THE CASE

On 15 June 1995, the defendant was charged by grand jury indictment with the first degree murder of his daughter, a child under twelve years of age, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30. He was arraigned 21 June 1995, and pled not guilty, and on 17 July 1995, he changed his plea to not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.
