On August 30, 2000, Stancy Derrell Long was convicted of murder, in violation of § 13A-6-2, Ala.Code 1975. On December 8, 2000, Long was sentenced to 15 years in prison. On January 16, 2001, the State filed a motion to correct the sentence to comply with the mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison for committing a Class A felony with a firearm, pursuant to § 13A-5-6(a)(4), Ala.Code 1975....
