At the conclusion of a bench trial, the defendant, Sultan Taher, was convicted of domestic battery pursuant to section 12-3.2(a)(2) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Criminal Code) (720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(2)(West 2000)). Defendant was sentenced to 18 months of conditional discharge and 180 days imprisonment, subject to remitter.
