Gridley (plaintiff), a resident of Louisiana, filed a putative nationwide class action lawsuit in Madison County, Illinois, against defendant State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company (State Farm). The lawsuit alleged violations of the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/1 et seq. (West 2000)) and unjust enrichment. State Farm moved to dismiss the case...
