The appellant, Mark Strickland, was convicted in the district court of Houston County for possession of marijuana in the first degree. On December 20, 2001, Strickland was sentenced to 12 months in the county jail; that sentence was suspended and he was ordered to serve 10 days. He was also fined $500.
