The defendant Robert A. Taylor, Jr., was convicted of capital murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. The Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the conviction in an unpublished memorandum, Taylor v. State (No. CR-98-1641, December 30, 1999) 796 So.2d 452 (Ala.Crim.App.1999) (table); and Taylor petitioned us for certiorari review, which we granted to determine whether the trial court erred in admitting evidence of DNA matching...
