A Sangamon County jury found defendant, Donald Cookson, guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. 720 ILCS 5/12—14.1(a)(1), 12—16(c)(1) (West 1998). The trial court sentenced defendant to 25 years' imprisonment for predatory criminal sexual assault and imposed no sentence for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
