STATEMENT OF THE CASE

On 9 July 2001 the State filed a bill of information charging the defendant with possession of crack cocaine, a violation of La. R.S. 40:967(C)(2). On 17 July 2001 she pleaded not guilty.1 On 31 July 2001 the defendant withdrew her not guilty plea and pleaded guilty as charged. On 31 October 2001 the defendant was sentenced to five years at hard labor; the sentence was suspended...
