After trial by jury, the defendant was convicted on five counts each of larceny over $250, uttering, and forgery. All fifteen charges were occasioned by the defendant's having cashed five checks made payable to him on accounts owned by his father at two different banks. Otherwise put, he was charged with taking his father's checks, forging his father's signature as maker, presenting the checks for payment at the banks, and, because the banks later reimbursed...
