In November 1996, Louis Clay was indicted by a Wilkinson County grand jury on count one of aggravated assault in violation of Miss.Code Ann. § 97-3-7 (Rev. 1993), and on count two of illegal possession of a firearm in violation of Miss.Code Ann. § 97-37-1 (Rev.1993). He was subsequently convicted on the aggravated assault charge and sentenced as an habitual offender to serve twenty years in the custody of the Mississippi...
