Plaintiff-Appellant Juanita M. Foster, an employee at AlliedSignal, Inc. since 1979, injured her arm and lower back in November 1995 while on the job. In December 1995, after being absent from work for several days, Foster was informed by AlliedSignal that she had been fired. Foster sued AlliedSignal in federal district court, claiming that her employment had been terminated in retaliation for her exercise
