The principal issue on appeal is whether the trial court erred in holding that the parties, in settling the claims of four plaintiffs, in an action brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, also intended to settle claims for counsel fees arising out of the litigation. The trial court concluded that counsel fees were covered by the broad releases executed by the plaintiffs in settling their individual cases and denied their request for fees...
