The State indicted Mitchell Jones on 20 August 20, 1998, for the second-degree murder of Jeremiah Payne, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1, and the attempted second-degree murder of Patrick Bryant, in violation of La. R.S. 14:(27)30.1.
