¶ 1. In May 2000, a Rankin County Circuit Court jury convicted the appellant, Danny Wayne Russell, of kidnaping and aggravated assault. He was subsequently sentenced to serve eighteen years in jail for the kidnaping conviction and eighteen years in jail for the aggravated assault conviction, said sentences to run concurrently.
