Following a January 18, 2000, jury trial in the circuit court of Ford County, defendant, Daniel Milligan, was convicted of one count of home invasion (720 ILCS 5/12-11(a)(2) (West 1998)) and one count of aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12-4(a) (West 1998) (as amended by Pub. Act 91-357, § 237, eff. July 29, 1999)). The trial court sentenced defendant to 25 years' imprisonment and 3 years' imprisonment...
