Casey Bock, as his attorney recognizes, is swimming upstream. But he is not alone. The issue he raises is not one on which he can prevail in this court, but it is one which has—in one form or another— captured the interest of a divided Supreme Court.

Bock was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). He was sentenced, however, under 18 U.S.C. § 924...
