During jury selection at the trial of charges arising out of his sale of cocaine to an undercover police officer, defendant requested that a new attorney be assigned because of his dissatisfaction with defense counsel. After County Court denied this request, defendant pleaded guilty to the charges. He was subsequently sentenced as a second felony offender to a term of 5 to 10 years in prison.
