38 Va. App. 528

George Linwood STEVENS, Jr., a/k/a Squenchie, v. COMMONWEALTH of Virginia.

Court of Appeals of Virginia, Richmond.

August 6, 2002.

Attorney(s) appearing for the Case

Craig W. Stallard, Assistant Public Defender (Office of the Public Defender, on brief), for appellant.

Paul C. Galanides, Assistant Attorney General (Randolph A. Beales, Attorney General, on brief), for appellee.

Present: BENTON and CLEMENTS, JJ., and COLEMAN, Senior Judge.

CLEMENTS, Judge.

George Linwood Stevens, Jr., was convicted in a bench trial of attempted capital murder of a police officer, in violation of Code §§ 18.2-25 and 18.2-31(6).1 On appeal, he contends the evidence was insufficient to sustain the conviction because the Commonwealth failed to prove he had the requisite specific intent to kill a law-enforcement officer. We disagree and affirm the conviction.
