Following a bench trial, the defendant, Venkatesan Deenadayalu, was convicted of criminal sexual abuse (720 ILCS 5/12-15(a)(2) (West 1998)) and battery (720 ILCS 5/12-3(a)(2) (West 1998)) and sentenced to 24 months' sex-offender probation and 10 days in the Sheriff's Work Alternative Program.
