Following a bench trial, the defendant, Tony D. Cleer, was found guilty but mentally ill of three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm (720 ILCS 5/24-1.2 (West 2000)) and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (720 ILCS 5/24-1.1 (West 2000)). The trial court sentenced the defendant to concurrent sentences of 20 years in prison for one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and 5 years for unlawful...
