GEMMILL, Judge.

¶ 1 The State timely appealed the trial court's decision to place probation violator Hylton on unsupervised probation for only one year, even though Hylton's original standard probation term was for three years. When the State challenges the legality of a sentence on appeal, we conduct an independent review. State v. Estrada, 197 Ariz. 383, 385, ¶ 6,
