Mateen Abdus Samad appeals his convictions after a jury trial of voluntary manslaughter while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Samad contends that the trial court plainly erred in failing to investigate reports that a juror had slept through critical parts of the government's case-in-chief. Samad also complains of two evidentiary rulings at trial, one limiting his co-defendant's cross-examination of the main prosecution...
