Petitioner LaVelle Chambers was convicted in Wisconsin state court in 1991 of one count of felony murder as party to a crime and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The court imposed a term of fifty years' imprisonment on the felony murder charge and eight years' imprisonment on the felon in possession charge. The sentences were to run consecutively.
