In February 1997, defendant pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with the understanding that she would be sentenced to a prison term of 2 to 6 years. On May 5, 1997, defendant failed to appear for sentencing and a warrant was issued for her arrest. In June 1997, a second indictment charged defendant with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in connection with drug transactions which had occurred in April 1997...
