Defendant Carl Stewart, Jr., was charged by bill of information with one count of distribution of cocaine in violation of La. R.S. 40:967 to which he pleaded not guilty. Following trial, on 4 December 2000, a twelve-person jury found the defendant guilty of the responsive verdict of attempted distribution of cocaine.
