The defendant, Jason Ratliff, was tried by jury and convicted of conspiracy to possess a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, diazepam (Valium), with the intent to distribute. He was sentenced to serve two years imprisonment at hard labor and to pay a fine of $7,500 and court costs.
