The appellant, Joey Watson, pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree and was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment; pursuant to the split-sentence act he was ordered to serve two years in the state penitentiary. Watson filed a notice of appeal and requested that he be appointed counsel to pursue an appeal.
