On May 5, 1999, the appellant, Derell Young, was convicted of felony murder, and the trial court sentenced him to serve a term of life in prison. We affirmed his conviction in an unpublished memorandum and issued a certificate of judgment on March 17, 2000. See Young v. State, 778 So.2d 881 (Ala.Crim.App.1999) (table), cert, denied, 786 So.2d 1155 (Ala.2000). On April 6, 2001, the appellant filed a Rule 32 petition, challenging his conviction...
