On March 1, 2000, the defendant, Lanford Payne, was charged by bill of information with two counts of armed robbery in violation of La. R.S. 14:64, two counts of aggravated assault in violation of La. R.S. 14:37.2, and one count of illegal use of a weapon in violation of La. R.S. 14:94.
