A jury convicted Eliseo Contreras on charges that he conspired with others to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute the narcotic, see 21 U.S.C. § 846, and that he possessed cocaine with the intent to distribute on five separate occasions, see 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1).
