Plaintiff-appellant Elijah Stanciel, who has been in custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections ("DOC") since 1988, filed suit in federal district court pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 alleging that the Pontiac Correctional Center ("Pontiac") and several DOC employees violated his constitutional and statutory rights. The district court dismissed fourteen of the nineteen counts alleged in Stanciel's complaint and granted summary judgment...
