These companion cases require this court to determine whether a juvenile's plea of nolo contendere is invalid when the juvenile has not been advised that his or her plea could result in an extension of his or her commitment. The Superior Court for Juvenile Matters, following plea agreements, committed the two juvenile respondents, Jason C. and Greily L., to the department of children and families (department) for eighteen months...
