STATEMENT OF THE CASE

Defendant Mary L. Toups, aka Mary Billiot ("the defendant"), was charged by bill of information on December 7, 1999, with possession of cocaine, a violation of La. R.S. 40:967(C). The defendant pled not guilty at her December 10, 1999 arraignment. The trial court denied the defendant's motion to suppress the evidence on December 22, 1999. At trial on February 9, 2000, a six-member jury, found the defendant guilty...
