The defendant, Dwight Briscoe, was charged by bill of information on July 9, 1998 with possession of cocaine, a violation of La. R.S. 40:967(C).1 At his arraignment on July 27, 1998, he entered a plea of not guilty. The trial court denied the defendant's motion to suppress the evidence on August 28, 1998.
