Defendant was indicted on charges of first degree burglary, felonious larceny, felonious possession of stolen goods, and second degree kidnaping arising from a burglary of the Robersonville residence of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Barnhill, an elderly couple, on 21 April 1990. During the burglary, the Barnhill's caretaker, Ms. Josephine Lawrence, was restrained by one of the perpetrators.
