Rae Ann Leach was convicted of aggravated battery for having attacked a child with a knife during a period of psychosis. The district court imposed a unified fifteen-year sentence with a one-year minimum term, but suspended the sentence and placed Leach on probation, subject to stringent terms of supervision.
