GOLDEN, Justice.

[¶ 1] The Wyoming legislature has authorized the sentencing judge in a criminal case to order a defendant convicted of a crime to pay to the victim of his crime actual pecuniary damages suffered by that victim resulting from the defendant's crime. Wyo. Stat. Ann. §§ 7-9-102, 103 (LEXIS 1999). A sentencing judge ordered James P. Graham, who was convicted of the crimes of obtaining property by false pretenses,1
