¶ 1. DEININGER, J.

The State is prosecuting Juan Navarro, an inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution, for battery by a prisoner.1 Navarro allegedly assaulted a correctional officer, and he asserts that he intends to claim at trial that he acted in self-defense. We granted Navarro leave to appeal an order denying his motion for an in camera inspection of confidential records possibly containing reports of abusive treatment of inmates...
