This appeal is the result of three separate lawsuits. The factual history is as follows. Gail Howard (Gail), born 3 March 1956, suffered from multiple sclerosis and lived with her parents. Until the incident in question, which occurred on 20 October 1993, Gail was a lively individual, able to do almost everything except walk and feed herself. Her condition, however, did make it difficult for her to hold items in her hands. When both of her parents needed...
