We are again asked to consider whether a defendant's claim that he was not given the required "alien warnings" pursuant to G. L. c. 278, § 29D, at a plea hearing, can be met with a reconstruction of the record consisting of a statement by the hearing judge that it was his standard practice to give the warnings.

On February 25, 1983, a judge of the Superior Court accepted Ciampa's guilty plea...
