McGREGOR, Justice.

¶ 1 On February 9, 1994, Newton was convicted of a felony offense committed on October 5, 1993, and was sentenced to prison until October 22, 1998. Because Newton earned early release credits, the Arizona Department of Corrections released him on April 9, 1997. In 1998, Newton was convicted of an offense he committed on January 27, 1998.
