OPINION

BILL VANCE, Justice.

Compass Exploration, Inc. ("Compass") hired B-E Drilling Company ("B-E") to drill a well on property in Leon County leased by Compass. Ray H. Eubank signed the contract for B-E. There were provisions in the contract about when B-E would be held responsible if the drilling went amiss and the hole was lost. According to the provisions, if the hole deviated from true vertical by more than two degrees between any two periodic tests...
